Now we focus our analysis on a fluid element.

For generality we consider, a fluid flow that involves change in cross sectional area and height.

As part of the modeling process, we make the following assumptions:

  • Fluid is incompressible
  • Flow is in a steady state - which means 'velocity map' at various points in space remains constant
  • No viscosity
